The Story Behind Own It Fitness

    The Early Years

Keyyan Arshad played football and soccer from 6th through 10th grade, but then made a major switch to the water sports of swimming and water polo through his senior year. This background in a diverse set of sports gave him a broad understanding of how the body moves and functions.

He started his journey in lifting and resistance training during his senior year in high school and hasn’t looked back. He channeled his passion for athletics and improvement into learning more and more about the strength and the human body. Later, in 2008, he started taking on unofficial clients.

    Things Heat Up

In 2009, things really started to become next-level.

Keyyan and Karina’s son Nejad was playing competitive football and basketball and was looking for an extra edge. That’s when Key’s eyes opened up to the importance of functional training customized sport-by-sport to meet the needs and demands of competitive athletes.

Just four years later, in 2013, he and his wife Karina officially opened Own It Fitness.

    A Family Affair

In many ways, Key and Karina’s son, and later their daughter Aliyeh – who played softball and basketball, inspired Own It Fitness. Their desire to get better at their respective sports was a huge catalyst in getting OIF to where it is today.

OIF is a family business. Today, its mission is to train adults and athletes of all ages and fitness levels, helping them achieve their fitness goals, whether that means better performance in everyday life, on the field, on the court, or in the pool.
