Elite Division Ultimate

A New Workout Program

Designed for the rigors of Elite Level Competitive Ultimate

The demands on the body of the elite ultimate athlete are unique to the sport.

The start-stop nature of play, the lateral and up-and-down field movement, receiver-like motions, bidding requirements, and more make designing an elite ultimate athlete’s body challenging.

This program focuses on explosiveness, injury prevention, core strength, vertical jump and sprint improvement, conditioning, and season longevity. It bears in mind that the elite ultimate season is long and high-impact on muscles, joints, the core nervous system, and overall health impact.

By the end of this program, you should be running faster for longer, jumping higher more quickly, enjoying greater agility, and using broader shoulders to position command positioning on the field.

Most importantly, you should be developing the type of body that can take you through a long career in a demanding sport.

The Game is Changing. Don’t Get Left Behind.

What do we mean by elite athlete?

With one or two exceptions, there’s long been a gap between Ultimate’s top athletes’ physical abilities and the abilities of the top athletes in other sports. But that gap is shrinking and will decrease significantly over the next ten years. If you plan to compete at an elite level, consider holding yourself to a professionally athletic standard.

Elite Male Athletic Standards

Vertical Jump –  28 inches

The Range of Collegiate Athletes

The range of different performance standards among players in even the best college programs is notable. There are some college players, especially toward the end of their collegiate careers that will likely switch to Elite Athletic Goals. Vertical Jump –  25 inches

5-10-5 Shuttle – 5 seconds

Key’s Advice

Head Trainer

“Strength and Resistance Training are crucial for Ultimate frisbee. And not just strength training, but “functional” strength training. It’s important that you are doing lifts and movements that apply to your sport. The more functional, the better. At Own It Fitness, we perform traditional lifts and movements, but we also specialize in more modern and New Age movements that apply to Ultimate.

If you want to run faster, jump higher, and be more explosive, you’ve got to build muscle. It’s really that simple. We coach proper functional strength and resistance training in order to increase power, build muscular hypertrophy, enhance explosion, and improve balance so that frisbee athletes at all levels can level up their game.

Strength and resistance training that is properly programmed also aids in post-game recovery and injury prevention.”
